Here’s How My Art Commission Process Works
If you’re thinking about getting custom artwork, I’d love to help. The process of getting a commission is not as daunting as it first may seem and happens in four simple steps. Below you’ll find everything you need to know and what I need from you to keep things smooth and easy from start to finish.
Step 1: Tell Me About Your Idea
Step 1: Tell Me About Your Idea

Here’s where you tell me all the hard facts and your ideas and wishes. Which size, the themes, symbolism, and concrete ideas you have. Based on all that information, I send you a proposal. After, 50% of the agreed-upon price must be paid as a non-refundable deposit.
Step 2: Get Your First Draft
Step 2: Get Your First Draft

Once all the initial information is in my hands and the deposit has been paid, I sit down and sketch my ideas. These will be sent to you to get your approval. The painting process will begin as soon as you are satisfied with the sketch.
Step 3: I Get to Work
Step 3: I Get to Work

The sketch is approved, so now it’s time to illustrate it! Depending on the size, materials, and your ideas and wishes, the time I need to finish the piece may vary. A time of 3 weeks is a minimum.
Step 4: You Get Your Artwork

The piece is finished! Based on what medium you commissioned, the artwork must find its way to you now. I will either send you a digital link where you can download a high-quality image, or I will send the physical piece to you through the mail, or, if possible, a pickup location can be arranged. More information on that down below.

What’s the idea behind your commission? Is there a deeper story?
If your commission is, for example, an item from your D&D campaign, feel free to share some of the relevant lore or background. Or, if it’s about your family, telling me a bit about your relationship and the emotions you want to capture will help me find the perfect tone for the piece. Also, let me know the intended purpose of the artwork and any visual preferences or inspirations you have in mind. While I always bring my own unique style to each piece, understanding your vision helps me create something that resonates with you.
What size do you need? (in px or cm)
This is one of the most important details I need upfront, as it directly affects the complexity and time required to complete your piece. A larger canvas means more work and will influence the price (see pricing information below). The same applies to digital artwork; if created too small, the print quality may suffer. If you’re unsure about the ideal size, I’m happy to offer my recommendations!
If it’s a portrait, how many people will be shown?
Just like the size of the piece, the number of people in a portrait affects how much time I’ll need to complete it. Letting me know this upfront helps me give you the most accurate timeline and pricing right from the start. When do you need it finished?
Every piece requires a minimum of three weeks to complete, depending on the complexity of your idea.“But I need it finished before that!” – The Rush Option
For an additional fee, I offer a limited rush option. Let me know your desired timeline, and I’ll check availability and feasibility. Rush commissions are limited and subject to a +30% fee, depending on the deadline. Please note that rush availability cannot be guaranteed.
How would you like to receive your artwork?
For digital commissions, you’ll get a download link with the high-resolution file upon completion. For physical artwork shipped via postal services, shipping costs will be added to the final price. If it’s a gift, gift packaging is available for direct delivery. Pickup can also be arranged in Vienna when possible.
Please read below at „Getting the finished piece“ for more information about the shipping process.

How Does the Deposit Work?
As outlined in Step 1, once we agree on the final price, a non-refundable deposit of 50% of the total amount is required to secure your commission.Simple Artworks Digital, a quicker option:
For simpler, polished sketches (perfect for D&D items, character portraits, and more), I offer a smaller tier starting at 30€. This includes a basic line drawing with minimal shading and flat colors. Pricing may vary based on complexity. Finishing time for these quicker artworks is 1 week.Pricing for Digital Pieces:
Every digital commission starts at a base price of 70€, which covers the concept, digital rendering, and file preparation for print. The final price depends on the complexity of the illustration, such as the level of detail, how many characters, and whether additional elements like detailed backgrounds or decorative borders are included.Since digital artworks are not tied to physical size, I calculate pricing based on time, complexity, and requested usage rights (e.g., personal or commercial use).
How My Prices for My Original Paintings Are Calculated:
Each original commission is priced at 0.35€ per cm², with a minimum charge of 150€. This base rate includes standard material costs. Should your piece require special materials, these will be billed separately. The final price depends on the size, materials, and complexity of the artwork. Once you submit your request, I’ll provide a detailed, personalized quote based on your specifications. The final cost will reflect the size, materials, and level of detail involved.
